Performance Specifications

All performance specifications stated, including but not limited to, pump-down rates and vacuum levels make the following assumptions:

  • The Vacuum Chamber is empty.
  • The Vacuum Chamber and other system components are clean and dry.
  • The System is being operated at Sea Level
  • The ambient temperature is 18°C +/- 2°C
  • All system components, including those not supplied by Abbess, are appropriate for the system and are functioning properly.
  • The specifications are not impacted by the properties of your product.

If you require performance specifications for conditions other than those listed above, it is vital that you make this known to Abbess Instruments in writing.  Generally Abbess Instruments recommends choosing chamber and pumping system qualities capable of achieving a theoretical vacuum at least an order of magnitude better than the desired operational vacuum.

It is to be noted that a specification described as '10-5 Torr' is a range, and means the clean, empty, dry chamber system is capable of reaching some undetermined value between 1.0x10-5 and 9.9x10-5 Torr: The (clean, empty, dry) chamber is deemed compliant whether its As-Built base vacuum is 1.0x10-5 Torr or 9.9x10-5 Torr. It does not mean that the chamber is guaranteed to reach every level within that range.

Vacuum Degassing and Oil Fill System

Manual Degas and Oil Fill System (analog VCC)
VCC Degas and Fill System (digital VCC)
VCC Degas and Fill System (digital VCC)

Optimise your impregnating, encapsulating and dosing production processes with Abbess Instruments vacuum degassing and Filling systems. Abbess Instruments reduces your production failures and processing time by eliminating moisture issues, air bubbles, and air cavities, and by automation (through controlling your process variables). We can take your product, in-situ, all the way from evacuation through to its cured state:

This double-chambered, thermal vacuum system allows for degas, dose, and thermal-cure processing. The front-loading door of the main chamber is acrylic, giving you both full visibility of the fill and the ergonomics of easy loading, unloading and cleaning. The secondary chamber, a degassing cylinder, has a top-loading acrylic lid giving you full visibility of the liquid level. The manual system can be upgraded to a semi-automated system by adding a Vacuum Cycle Controller (VCC). The VCC which is used to automate vacuum/hold/vent control functions via panel-mounted buttons and indicators. In either system, by manually operating the pinch valve, you will be able to convey degassed material from the secondary chamber to the item being dosed in the main chamber as the process cycle dictates.

There is (optionally) a thermal plate in each chamber: Simply enter in the cure temperature into the PID Temperature Controller when the item is ready for curing, and switch it off when complete. A second PID Temperature controller allows you to thermally prepare the material in the secondary chamber as required e.g. to improve its flow rate.

Cart-mounting provides full system mobility and thus flexibility of positioning on your production floor.

Upgrade options include:

  • Thermal plate in one or both chambers, optional
  • A Vacuum Cycle Controller (VCC) that can be used to automate some or all of the control functions via panel-mounted buttons and indicators.
  • A VCC controlled by a PC with a user-specified Graphical User Interface (GUI) operated through a touch-screen.
